Man hit by T’ville police car
dies day after civil suit filed

A man hit by a Thomasville Police Department patrol car Sept. 1, died Saturday, Sept. 27, the day after a civil suit against Officer Leroy Dale and the City of Thomasville was filed by a Birmingham law firm.

The accident happened on Martin Luther King Drive in Thomasville when Shamburger apparently ran out in front of the patrol car.

The complaint stated Sham-burger had been left "bruised, confused and otherwise in-jured," and that he was seeking a financial settlement to meet past and future medical expenses for the treatment of his internal and external injuries.

The suit seeks a judgment in excess of $10,000.

Since Shamburger has died, his family may pursue the case.
