Yellow
jacket nest

is a monster!

Democrat Sports Editor Ross Wood got one sting in exchange for his bravery in holding up a yard stick to show the size of this huge yellow jacket nest on a bank along the Simmons Creek Road between Allen and Suggsville. The nest is a monster, measuring at least six feet long and sticking out from the bank three to four feet. Allen Tarleton of Allen brought the nest to the newspaper’s attention. County Engineer Sam Noble has been made aware of the nest and motorists and walkers along the road are urged to be cautious until something can be done about it. Democrat advertising rep Alton Deas made this picture, opting to let Wood have the privilege of being in the photo—and of getting the sting!
