Murder cases on dockets for trial The criminal jury term for Clarke County Circuit Court will start Monday, Oct. 25. Judge Harold Crow has 58 cases listed on his docket and Judge Thomas Baxter has 94 cases listed on his docket. Annie M. Haskew will be tried for capital murder in the death of her infant son, Jared J. Haskew. She was indicted for smothering the child to death at the Haskews’ home in Liberty in the fall of 2002. Michael L. Ervin of Thomasville will be tried for murder in the shooting death of Larnell Hickenbottom in August of 2003 at a Bashi Road residence near Thomasville. Judge Crow will hear both cases. Laddarios Wright of Grove Hill is charged with the murder of Jeffrey Carey of Mobile. Carey’s body was found in the Blue Mountain area in September 2003. He had been shot in the head, execution style, with a pistol. Dwight Harris is charged with the Aug. 31, 2003 murder of Eddie Lavon Johnson. Johnson and Harris had allegedly argued earlier. Harris is said to have shot Johnson in the chest with a shotgun on the Piney Woods Road in Whatley. Also on the docket is Willie Welch, charged with using the office of Grove Hill mayor for for personal gain. He was indicted while he was mayor of Grove Hill for using the office for personal gain. Also on the docket is Willie Welch who was indicted when he was mayor of Grove Hill for using the office for personal gain. His term as mayor ended earlier this month. Assistant Attorney General Eric Vincent Carroll will prosecute the case. Judge Baxter will hear those three cases.
