Hunter Appreciation Day is big event Nov. 27 in historic downtown Pine Apple The Ninth Hunter Appreciation Day will be Saturday, Nov. 27 in historic downtown Pine Apple. This downtown event features arts and crafts, live entertainment, hunters and an antique car parade. Pine Apple is known as a popular deer and hunting mecca as well as being on the National Register of Historic Places because of its unique combination of historical architectural style homes. The day’s events begin at 9 a.m. in downtown where vendors will set up to sell their handmade arts and crafts. Live entertainment will be on stage at the town gazebo during the day. The parade featuring antique cars and trucks will begin at noon at the Moore Academy School and will include horse riders, floats, children and bicycles and four wheelers and other attractions. There is no entry fee for the parade. Antique car and truck trophies will be awarded in four categories. At 7 p.m. prize money will be awarded for the winners of the Les Moorer Memorial Buck Contest. The hunter who kills the biggest buck will be awarded $500. Prizes will also be awarded in the women’s and juvenile’s division. All entries in the Big Buck Contest will receive a free Hunter Appreciation Day T-shirt. There is no admission charge. For information call 251-746-2785.
