Bueno

Josephine Thompson Bueno, 97, of Jackson died Oct. 14, 2004 at Jackson Health Care Facility.

She was a homemaker. In World War II she worked as a welder in a shipyard and after that she was employed at Bemis Bag Company as a bag seamer.

Survivors include sister, Mary Lee Criswell, Jackson; nephew, Son Warren Marks, Jackson.

The service was held Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home. Burial was in the Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Robert Marks, Scott Howell, Roger Marks, Fred Marks, Roy Marks and Joel Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Jared Ellis, Jerry “J.D.” Few, Alfred Marks, Clarence Shaw and Bob McClain.

Dickinson

Elmira Dickinson, 91, of Thomasville died Oct. 11, 2004 at Thomasville Nursing Facility.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Chester Dickinson, Robert Dickinson Jr., both of Gary, Ind., Elijah Dickinson, Abilene, Texas; three daughters, Dorothy Smithson, Chicago, Ill., Rachel Austin, Thomasville, Mary Pouncey, San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Bishop Issac Fluker, Compton, Calif.; one sister, Mary Warner, Fairfield, Calif.

The service was held Oct. 16 at 12 noon with Elder Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial was in the Thomasville Church Of God In Christ Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were grandsons.

Lawley

Charles “Bud” Phelon Lawley, 71, of Jackson died Oct. 18, 2004 at his residence.

He was a native of Aldridge. He opened the first floor covering store in Jackson in 1964. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. He was a former member of the Jackson Rotary Club. He was an avid fisherman. He was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Lane Lawley, Jackson; one son, Wendell Ryals, Vidalia, Ga.; four daughters, Alice Elizabeth Wilkins, Jackson, Jeannie Ryals, Ocala, Fla., Rose Marie Epperson, Birmingham, Darlene Buchanan, Cullman; one brother, John Lawley Jr., Chattanooga, Tenn.; one sister, Fay Conroy, Fountain, Fla.; five grandsons.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Lawley and one brother, James E. Lawley.

The service was held Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. Burial was in Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Active pallbearers were Brent Ryals, Jacob Ryals, Zachery Wilkins, Kenneth Lane and Rayborn Lane.

Honorary pallbearers were Gerry Pugh, Harry Lassiter, Dickey Steele, Ronnie Harris and Buck Bonds.

Shows

Johnnie Anderson Shows, 77, of Jackson died Oct. 17, 2004 in a local hospital.

He was a native of Strenghford, Miss. He was a member of the Jackson First Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Shows, Jackson; two sons, Michael Shows, Jackson, Jay Shows, Demopolis; two daughters, Pamela Shows Eggars, Boyce, La., Kimberly Shows Burkett, Baton Rouge, La.; one brother, Cleo Shows, Laurel, Miss.; three sisters, Lottie Trest, Mobile, Winnie Lee, Ft. Walton, Fla., Angie Hutto, Waynesboro, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The service was held Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Jackson First Assembly of God Church. Burial was in the Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jackson. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

Active pallbearers were Mint Shows, Jayson Shows, Matt Shows, Michael Eggars, Cory Eggars and Brian Burkett.
