'Ten Thousand Dollar Rally' does just that at Chance Baptist

The "Ten Thousand Dollar Rally" that was held at the Chance Baptist Church on Sunday, July 30 was a great success. The members and friends of the church managed to meet their goal of $10,000 in order to complete renovations being made on the church. Mrs. Maxie Taite was the program sponsor and she reports that she is truly grateful for all the responses that she and others received for the program. Rep. Thomas Jackson was the guest speaker for this occasion. Probate Judge Becky Presnall spoke words of encouragement, along with remarks from Chief Deputy Donnie Arnold. County Commissioner Rhondel Rhone was the Master of Order. Rev. Charley L. Marshall Sr. is the pastor.

The Packers Bend Community celebrated the ground breaking for their new medical clinic this past Saturday at 1 p.m. Mrs. Fay Carstarphen, who organized this project and sought funding for this and the ball field in Packers Bend, was on hand with community members and dignitaries who have looked forward to this event. The humid weather did not stop a large crowd from gathering to take part in and view this historic event. Rev. W.W. Nixon spoke words of encouragement to Mrs. Carstarphen and the entire community, congratulating them on hard work well done. Mrs. Carstarphen received accolades for her determination to see this project through.

The Kidd and Morrissette Family reunion will be Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Packers Bend Fire Station at 10 a.m.

Please continue to pray for family and community members who are recovering from recent illness.
