Man wrecks 4-wheeler running from C'ville police

A Coffeeville man was injured after trying to outrun police and falling off his four-wheeler early Sunday morning.

Coffeeville Police Chief Clint Harrell saw Wendell White, 57, riding a four-wheeler on Highway 84 in Coffeeville about 12:20 a.m.

Harrell attempted to pull White over, but White tried to evade him, going to Highway 69 and then Highway 154 before he fell off the four-wheeler in a field.

White broke his arm in the incident.

He was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and reckless driving.

"We had several complaints about four-wheelers on the streets in town already, and then I had to give a DUI for someone on a four-wheeler. A lot of people think they can't get a DUI if they're riding a four-wheeler, but they can, and he did," Harrell said.
