Financial seminar set

Journey to Financial Freedom, a Crown Financial Ministries seminar sponsored by the First Baptist and First United Methodist churches of Jackson, Alabama will be held at the FUMC Christian Life Center on August 25 and 26 . The seminar presents God's principles of finance for the family. This seminar has been used by God to open the door to total financial freedom for thousands of Christian families. The Friday night session will begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m., and the Saturday session will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 12:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. Softball benefit tournament set

There will be a men's softball benefit tournament for John D. Bennett Saturday, Aug. 26 at 7 a.m. until at the Jackson Softball Complex located on Highway 43 next to New Era Cap Company. Mr. Bennett is a cancer patient. Entry fee is $130. For more information contact Clay Ready at 251-246-7691.

Historical Society meets

The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Aug. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall. Vallee Hicks will present a program on steamboats. Her research has discovered a wealth of information on steamboats that stopped at Clarke County landings, including some boats that were actually constructed in Clarke County. The public is invited to attend.

Farmers Federation meeting set

The Clarke County Farmers Federation will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Alfa Building on 148 South Jackson Street in Grove Hill. A social hour will follow. Door prizes will be awarded during the meeting.

VFW Post members meet

VFW Post 5106 and its ladies auxiliary will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. Post members are invited and urged to come and attend this first meeting for the years 2006-2007. The programs and activities will be presented to everyone at this meeting.

WHHS Class of 1966 reunion set

Wilson Hall High School Class of 1966 will celebrate its 40th year reunion beginning Friday, Sept. 1 through Sunday, Sept. 3 in Grove Hill. For more information you may contact: Theresa Ambrose at 251-275-3739 or Doris Wilson at 251-275-8484.

Parden reunion set

The Parden Family Reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Coffeeville.

Harrison family reunion

The Levi S. Harrison family reunion will be Monday, Sept. 4 , Labor Day at the Chilton Baptist Church. A covered dish lunch will be served. A gospel singing will be held in the afternoon. All family and friends are invited to attend.

WHHS Class of 1969 reunion set

Wilson Hall High School Class of 1969 will celebrate its 37th year reunion beginning Thursday, Dec. 28 through Saturday, Dec. 30 in Grove Hill. If you have any addresses for classmates that you think the class doesn't already have please forward them. The class will forward information concerning cost no later than June 2006 .
