Annell Gordon gets award, money too!

Annell Gordon of Grove Hill recently won an award for a short story submitted at the Alabama Writers' Conclave.

The Wilson Hall Middle School teacher and fellow members of the Grove Hill Writers' Group, Jim Herod and Susie Kennedy attended the conference in Auburn July 21-23. All three submitted stories or memoirs for the contests and Gordon won fourth place in the short fiction category.

Her story, entitled "The Runner" was about a little girl with a disability who witnessed those who taunted her getting what they deserved from an unexpected assailant.

Gordon received a check and certificate at the conference.
