Baseball field to cost $251,406
New home for CCHS baseball, softball programs

Cooper Brothers of Selma was awarded the bid for site prep work for the new Gerald H. Stephens Sports Complex in Grove Hill during Tuesday's Clarke County Board of Education meeting.

Their bid of $251,406 includes preparation of the baseball and softball fields as well as the employee parking area and the overflow parking area.

Work is expected to begin immediatley on the complex, to be located adjacent to Grove Hill Elementary School.

The project is one of several capital improvements projects, funded by the bond issuance completed in March.

Other business

Testing coordinator Julia Ann Deas gave board members an update on the recently released accountability report for public schools in the state. See the story in today's paper for more details.

Mattie Lee Chapman resigned as a Child Nutrition Program employee at Clarke County High School.

Zanetta Watters was hired as a special education nurse for the Jackson schools.

Bernice Campbell, a Child Nutrition Program employee was transferred from Wilson Hall Middle School to Coffeeville High School.

A revised school calendar for the 2006-2007 school year was approved.

The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 31 at 4 p.m.
