Old time religion at Methodists' Blue Lake

Sally Jordan fans Mary Lynn Feagin Wilson as she furiously peddles an antique pump organ for Grove Hill United Methodists to sing in the historic Lambuth Chapel at Blue Lake, the Methodist retreat camp near Andalusia Sunday. Grove Hill Methodists have been going to Blue Lake nearly continuously since 1962 for family retreat weekends. The old church has no electricity (and therefore no air conditioning!). It dates to the 1820s and was relocated to Blue Lake from Forkland in Greene County. Rev. Dave Rhodes, pastor of the Grove Hill United Methodist Church, preached at the Blue Lake service and Maurice Dyess filled the pulpit in Grove Hill. Organist Wilson grew up in Grove Hill and attended the local Methodist Church. She lives in Spanish Fort but regularly attends the Blue Lake event with her mother, Bernice Feagin.
