     Coffeeville High School has been awarded an ACCESS Distance Learning Expansion Site Grant that will provide equipment and services for a videoconferencing interactive distance-learning lab. The total value of this grant, in direct funding, is $93,656.

'Round-up' results in several arrests in Depot neighborhood
     Extra efforts are being put forth to rid the Depot area in Jackson of drug traffic. A good many complaints have been made by residents of the community and someone shot at Jackson police officers in that area a few weeks ago.

Alternate bid for solid waste contract includes county office
     Utilities Director Jack Greer asked Clarke County Commissioners Monday if the bid openings for solid waste removal services in the county could be postponed if they wanted the contract to include that the company must have an office in the county in order for customers to pay their bills in cash.

New RV park will be good for Jackson, say councilmen

     Jackson Councilman Paul South reported at Tuesday's council meeting that the new RV park located on Highway 177 would open Monday, Aug. 28, and is equipped with water service for campers. "I believe this will be a great asset for our town," he said.

     Jamaris Rios Frazier, 22, of Grove Hill was arrested Aug. 22, by Jackson Police and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
