Jackson works on ACE certification

An Alabama Communities of Excellence assessment team came to Jackson Monday and Tuesday to help the city work on its ACE certification. The city and chamber of commerce provided a steak dinner for the team members and participating Jackson citizens Monday evening at the Assembly House. From left are team members Linda Swann of the Alabama Development Office, Mary Mason Shell of the Alabama Historical Commission, Artura Menefee of the Alabama Coperative Extension System, and Larry Watts, a private consultant from Birmingham. Other team members included Nivory Gordon of USDA Rural Development and Nisa Miranda, director of the University of Alabama's Center for Economic Development. At right is Jackson Mayor Richard Long.
