Grove Hill man charged with possession of drugs by Jackson police officers

Jamaris Rios Frazier, 22, of Grove Hill was arrested Aug. 22, by Jackson Police and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Chief Charles Burge, the department received a call around 2 a.m. from the Citgo station on Highway 43 concerning an incident of indecent exposure. When officers arrived, the suspect was gone.

Approximately two hours later, around 4:04 a.m., the department received a second call from the store clerk who reported the suspect had returned. Officer Ben Marshall and Sgt. Josh Garrett responded and pulled over a black Nissan Maxima driven by Frazier.

Burge said Marshall observed what appeared to be a bag of marijuana in Frazier's right hand. Further investigation revealed that the bag contained four smaller bags, each containing the illegal drug.

"It appeared it had been packaged for selling," the Chief added.

During a search of the vehicle officers also found what appeared to be several rocks of crack cocaine. Frazier was booked into the Clarke County Jail.
