Fugitive evades lawmen from Clarke, Choctaw
The incident began Wednesday afternoon at about 2:30 when a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck was allegedly taken from a residence in Coffeeville, Coffeeville Police Chief Clint Harrell said. Suspects Tina Coxwell Rone and Curtis Gregory Gaynor reportedly led police on a chase along Alabama Highway 84 into neighboring Choctaw County before abandoning the vehicle at the Highway 84 Package Store. "Both (suspects) fled on foot, but the girl gave herself up before long," Choctaw County Sheriff Don Lolley said. A state helicopter was brought in, as well as a K-9 unit, and officers searched the woods until early Thursday morning, but Gaynor remains at large. Rone, a 35-year-old woman from Gilbertown, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, Harrell said. She was taken to the Clarke County Jail and bail was set at $1,000. Harrell said he was unsure whether Rone had made bond. Gaynor, 41, has relatives in Coffeeville but had been living in Gilbertown. He is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Harrell said he has received information that the suspect may be on his way to Virginia. "He has connections there," Harrell said. "But he'll be back." Agencies assisting in the search included the Coffeeville and Gilbertown police departments, the Choctaw and Clarke counties sheriff's departments, Alabama Department of Public Safety, Department of Game and Wildlife and the Department of Corrections.
GH Town Council-8/24/06
Two, members of the three-man management team recently hired at Clarke Mobile Counties Gas spoke to the Grove Hill Town Council during Monday night's meeting. "We are excited to be here. There are a lot of good things going on in the district. The new interconnect (with Wilcox County) will help get gas here if something happens on the lower end. We look forward to working with your mayor. The mayors who serve on the board are considering the best interest of the people in the district," C.J. Arnold said. "We've got great folks at Clarke-Mobile Gas and we are excited about the things we have put together," Al Bean added. Michael Patrick requested the council place Patrick's Garage on the small vehicle wrecker rotation list for the town. "We were on it once and we would like to get back on it," he said. Mayor Lamar Hudson asked if Patrick had a CDL and he replied that one was not needed for the small rotation list. Hudson said the list would remain the same and they might consider adding Patrick's at a later date.
