Whillock-Turberville wed in Stave Creek
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benny R. Turberville of Jackson. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Whillock of Marianna, Fla. Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. James E. Davis of Jackson and Floyd R. Turberville of Monroeville and the late Ernestine Turberville. Grandparents of the groom are Elfrieda Coon of Marianna, Fla., and the late Omar Coon, and Gloria Whillock of Lutz, Fla., and the late James Whillock. The front walk of the church was decorated with hanging New Orleans-style lanterns filled with mixed flowers, spring rye, and ivy and tied with white tulle bows. Satin monogrammed sashes on wreaths of mixed color lilies, roses, Gerbera daisies and irises accented the double doors at the entrance to the church. Triple ivy topiaries were placed on each side of the double doors. Below the lighted cross, a large arrangement of hot pink roses, Gerbera daisies and larkspur, yellow lilies and daisies, white lilies, roses, and daisies, purple delphinium, iris, and larkspur was centered on the platform. The bride wore a formal gown of imported white chiffon. Hand sewn crystal beads accented the bodice and modified the sweetheart neckline. Two trails of chiffon fell from the back of the bodice to create a sweep train. Crystal beads accented the hem of the fingertip veil. She carried a white cascade bouquet of lilies, roses, dendrobium orchids, and freesia. Matron of honor was Leigh Henson of Wagarville, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jenna Donaldson of Auburn, Stacey Burgess of Birmingham, Katie Blair and Rebekah Warren of Montgomery, and Erica Anderson of Jackson. They wore tea-length strapless dresses of black satin, with crystal beading accenting the natural waist. They carried hand-tied bouquets of mixed color roses lilies, asters, iris and tree fern, tied with sheer green ribbon. Janie Ann Henson of Wagarville, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. Attending the bride's book was Jenny Hearn of Jackson. Best man was Matthew Whillock of Birmingham, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Caleb Brunson, Jarred Brunson, Josh Hayes, John Solomon, and Adam Temple, all of Dothan. Hope Smith directed the wedding.
Reception A reception was held at the Kimbell House following the ceremony. Asparagus fern hung around the perimeter of the front and back porches, with planters of ferns and ivy on the porches. Wreaths with the couple's 'W' monogram accented the front and back doors. The brick courtyard was decorated with lattice columns, ivy, Gerbera daisies, bougainvillea, and urns of petunias. In the parlor the bride's table held a three tiered square cake with white icing and strawberry filling. The cake was decorated with live flowers and topped with the couple's acrylic monogram. The groom's cake was served in the dining room, and was in the shape of a gator, the University of Florida mascot. The main dining area was decorated with tall columns holding urns with macho ferns. The main table was covered in a white Battenberg cloth, and decorated with a tall crystal vase filled with lemons and limes, and containing a large arrangement of the bride's chosen flowers. After a honeymoon to Point Clear, the couple will reside in Marietta, Ga.
Attendants' luncheon The wedding party was treated to lunch at the church before the wedding. The luncheon was given by Loretta Lowery, Gina Davis, aunt of the bride, Susan Davis, aunt of the bride, Amanda Shirley, and Tiffany Davis, cousins of the bride.
Rehearsal dinner An after-rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents, Don and Linda Whillock Friday, July 7 at the Jackson Golf House. Floating tea lights and picture confetti of the bridal couple on the tables, lighted topiaries; pictures from both parent's weddings and mothers' bridal veils decorated the gift table. The bride and groom presented gifts to their wedding party. Monogrammed handkerchiefs and wedding scrapbooks made by the bride were presented to their parents. Leigh Henson, sister of the bride, presented a slide show with pictures of the couple from childhood through college. The guests were the wedding party, parents, grandparents, and out of town guests.
