Waller-Gilmore say vows June 24 in B'ham church
Rick Barnes, pianist, presented a program of sacred, classical and popular music. He also accompanied Eugene F. Gilmore III, brother of the bride of Birmingham, who sang "I Will Be Here" by Michael W. Smith. The altar was decorated with arrangements of blue and purple hydrangea interspersed with pale pink and ivory roses in matching urns and memorial candles. Candles were lighted by Paige Morris of Birmingham. Family pews were marked with swags of hydrangea and roses matching the altar flowers. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless formal A-line gown of white organza featuring a side drape with beaded metallic embroidery and a chapel length train. She wore an elbow length veil attached to a jeweled comb that her cousin, Ginny Coffey Johnston had worn at her wedding. The bride's bouquet was a hand-tied arrangement of pastel colored roses mixed with pale green hydrangea. Special music at the conclusion of the ceremony was presented by the Huffman Methodist Handbell Choir, performing from the balcony in the rear of the sanctuary. Mary Elizabeth Comulada, cousin of the bride of Huntsville, held the bride's bouquet during the exchange of vows. Wayne Patterson, step-father of the groom of Decatur, presented the rings to the minister. A reception followed at the Country Club of Birmingham. The bride and groom were transported to the reception in a 1932 Chevrolet.
Reception Mr. and Mrs. Gilmore, parents of the bride along with Mr. and Mrs. James Wallace Nall Jr., aunt and uncle of the groom, greeted guests as they arrived at the reception. Colorful arrangements of mixed summer flowers were displayed throughout the reception rooms. A buffet of food delicacies was flanked by a kabob station of beef and shrimp and a potato bar. Tables for guests were placed around the ballroom and on the terrace. Providing music for the evening was the Motown band, "Sandy B and the Allstars" of Augusta, Ga. The bride and groom danced the first dance to "When God Made You" by Newsong. The bride and her father's dance was to "My Father's Eyes" by Amy Grant. The bride's four-tiered wedding cake was embossed in white and topped with the couple's initial "W". The other tiers were adorned with tiny arrangements of multicolored fresh flowers. Trays of miniature pecan tassies were featured on a side table and were served in lieu of a groom's cake. The bride's mother made the wedding cake and the pecan tassies. The bridal couple left for a 12-day wedding trip to Nevada and points in California including San Francisco and Monterey. They are making their home in Trussville.
