Fill-in church speaker does fine job

Elder LaBarron Morrissette spoke at the annual Missionary Day Program at the Chance Baptist Church this past Sunday.

While he was not originally scheduled to speak, he was called upon and delivered a soul stirring sermon to the congregation. He is the son of Chance native Leo Morrissette, and the nephew of Cleo Morrissette of Chance. He now resides in Stockton.

Members of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Chance and others in surrounding communities are mourning the loss of their pastor, Rev. J.J. Hall, who passed away unexpectantly on Aug. 21. He was also the pastor of Little Canaan Baptist Church in Pine Hill. His funeral was held on this past Sunday in Camden.

Mrs. Stella Mae Weatherly of Lower Peach Tree passed away recently. She had been recuperating in the hospital after an automobile accident in July.

Mr. Alvin Wright of Sunny South passed away after an extended illness. He had been hospitalized for several months. Our deepest sympathy is extended to all of their families during their bereavement.

Please continue to pray for family and community members who are recovering from recent illness.
