Murder indictment returned

Calvin Stephens of Jackson was indicted by the Clarke County Grand Jury for murder-reckless/vehicle homicide.

The indictment charges that Stephens acted in a negligent manner, causing an accident and the death of Melanie Darrington.

Other indictments released this week include:

Veronica Michel Chapman, probation revocation.

Todd Paul Dumas, assault, third degree.

Joseph Melvin Johnson, DUI.

Kelvin Jermaine Jordan, probation revocation.

Copeland Martin, sexual abuse, first degree.

Edward Larry McReynolds, probation revocation.

Jeremy Thomas, burglary, first degree, theft of property, first degree.
