JA Eagles take one on the chin against Cottage Hill

The Jackson Academy Eagles lost 42-0 to the Cottage Hill Christian Warriors last Friday night in Jackson.

Jackson Academy got 25 yards on the ground from Dennis Cranmore, 11 yards from Chance Lyon and Brandon Gilpen added eight more on four attempts.

Wesley Harris was 4 of 14 passing, throwing three interceptions. He passed for 18 yards on the night.

Josh Howard led the recivers for the Eagles with 15 yards on three receptions. Drew Jones had one reception for three yards.

Harris also led all returners with three attempts for 107 yards, including a 72 yards opening kick-off return.

On defense, Max Harrell, Brandon Gilpen and Conner Woodham all combined for 10 tackles and two assist each.

Cottage Hill was led by quarterback Bragan Jackson, who tossed two touchdown passes to Tray Bonner, inlcuding a 73-yarder on the second play of the game.

B. Jackson passed for 180 yards on the nightm with most of those going to Bonner.

The Warriors also had four interceptions on the night against the Eagles.

The start of the game was delayed just over an hour due to thunderstorms in the area.

"Cottage Hill is a very sound ball club," said JA Head Coach Lynn Wright. "The Warriors are well coached and they showed it."
