Lady Gators do well in Elite 8 vball tournament The Clarke Prep School Lady Gators, ranked number three in the AISA, played tough in the Elite 8 tournament held this past Saturday in Mobile on the campus of Faith Academy. "I was extremely pleased with the way we played," Coach Jami Barlow said. "We were farther along than I thought, but we still have a lot of work to do, especially with our passing." The Lady Gators were eliminated from the tourney by eventual champ Cottage Hill 19-25 and 18-25. Katelyn Dunagan had four hits and a kill. Janine Kania had a dig. Tess Ackerman had five digs and an ace. Corrie Allen had three digs and a block. Julie Banks had a hit. Jessica McKinley had two hits. Harley Horton had three hits, a kill and two aces. In the second game Dunagan had five hits, a block and two digs. Kania added a dig and a hit. Ackerman had an ace, four digs, a hit, a dink and a block. Allen added a dig and two hits. Horton had two aces, four hits, a kill and two blocks. In their second match of the day CPS beat Kingwood 25-21 and 25-17. In the first game Dunagan had an ace, four hits and a kill. Kania had an ace. Allen had five aces, two hits and two blocks. Horton had two aces, a hit and a kill.
In the second game Dunagan had five hits, a kill and two digs. Kania had two hits and a block. Ackerman had a hit and a block. Allen had three digs, four aces and a dink. McKinley had a dig, an ace and a hit. The Lady Gators opened the tourney by losing to Sumter, in three games, 6-15, 25-20 and 23-25. Dunagan had six hits, three kills, three blocks and two digs. Allen had an ace, three hits, four kills, three digs and two dinks. Ackerman had an ace, two hits, a kill, two dinks and a block. McKinley had a dig and two hits. Horton had two hits and two dinks. In the second game Dunagan had eight hits, three kills and two digs. Kania had two digs, two aces and a hit. Ackerman had two digs, an ace, a hit, a dink and a block. Allen had a dig, an ace, a hit and a dink. Anna Hicks had an ace, a dink and two blocks. Horton had a dig, three hits and a kill. The Lady Gators travel to York Thursday (today) to try and get a certain amount of revenge when they take on Sumter Academy. Next Tuesday they go to Greenville to play Fort Dale.
