Dear Editor, The ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5106 of Thomasville would like to thank all of the Clarke County businesses and friends who purchased ads for our 2007-2008 Ways and Means Program Books. Your ad will help us to promote patriotism in our community and will benefit many. Some of the programs our VFW auxiliary sponsor and/or co-sponsor are the Voice of Democracy oratorical contest, Patriot's Pen essay contest, Creative Patriotic Art, Citizenship Education teachers on three different levels, supporting Operation Uplink (telephone cards to hospitalized veterans and/or those service members on active or reserve duty) and Veterans Hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. We volunteer our time going into schools upon request, presenting patriotic programs, teaching young people about responsibilities as citizens in a democracy and encouraging them to participate. We love, support and promote our veterans and their families. Your generous contributions will help us be able to continue our work in our community, district and state. Thank you for your time and generosity. May God bless you. Mae Parden District 10 President Auxiliary President VFW Post 5106
Library appreciatve too
Dear Editor, Recently the Grove Hill Public Library Board met and evaluated the Summer Reading Program. We feel that this program was a great success for the children in our community. This year's program would not have happened without the support of many businesses in this community. We would like to thank the following businesses for their contributions: Gilmore & Gilmore, First United Security Bank, Grove Hill City Council, Sales Ford, Clarke County Board of Education, The Grove Hill Arts Council, and the many members of the Library Board who donated their time to help with the program. I sincerely appreciate your support and dedication to our children. Chelsea Bailey
