Do your part, help clean up!

Litter doesn't just sprout and grow like grass. Neither does it fall from the sky like rain.

Every scrap of litter you see along our highways, or in illegal dumps, was placed there by human hands, either deliberately or carelessly.

Clarke County could be a beautiful county but we have more than our share of litter. Most of it was caused by our own people. How do we combat this problem? Through publicity and education efforts such as the Litter Awareness Week planned for Sept. 11-16.

Every citizen should take a part in next week's cleanup. If you just pick up one garbage bag of trash, you will be participating. More importantly, maybe the week will remind us to think twice before littering in the future.
