Gospel singing set Sept. 23 for Shirley Wright in Grove Hill
For over 30 years Shirley Wright was at the very heart of the work of the Baptist Churches in Clarke County, as her husband Jack served as Director of Missions and she served as Associational Clerk. Recently retired from this venue of service, Shirley has been diagnosed with bone cancer. The family has begun an extensive course of treatment, with the care being administered in Little Rock, Arkansas, at one of the nation's leading centers for dealing with Shirley's type of cancer. The overwhelming cost of the treatments, the expense of having to live away from home for such long periods of time, and the incidental expenses that continue to mount have created a significant need. After decades of the Wrights serving this area, this is an opportunity for our area to give back to this special couple. There will be a benefit singing for Shirley Wright on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Clarke County High School in Grove Hill beginning at 6 p.m. All money recieved that night will go to Shirley Wright to help with her medical expenses. Guest singers will include the Kellys of Jackson, Good News of Grove Hill, Battle Creek Bluegrass of Castleberry, and the Men's Quartet of First Baptist Fulton. Please make every effort to attend the benefit and help to encourage Jack and Shirley. If you cannot attend but would like to make a contribution send it to: Shirley Wright benefit, c/o Bassett Creek Baptist Church, Grove Hill, Ala. 36451. All checks should be made out to "Jack and Shirley Wright." All mailed contributions should be post-marked by Sept. 19 so that they can be included in the gift on the 23rd. If you have any questions call Diana Kynard at 275 - 8063. Please be a part of meeting a need in the lives of these very special Clarke County residents.
