Overton - Tavis to say vows Oct. 7 in Gulf Shores

Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Overton of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Marian Melissa, to Anthony Michael Tavis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard G. Tavis of Smithfield, R.I.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Bostrom of Jackson and Mildred Paul of Grove Hill and the late Johnny Overton.

A graduate of Jackson Academy, she graduated with honors from Faulkner State University with an associate degree in art. She is a graduate of the Gulf Coast Institute of Vascular Ultrasound and is presently traveling as a vascular sonographer employed in Providence, R.I.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Carmen Tavis of Rhode Island and the late Emanuel Tavis and the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cerullo.

He is a graduate of Smithfield High School and is currently employed with Bradco Supply Corporation in Pawtucket, R.I. as a sales representative.

The wedding will be an event of Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, 5 p.m. at Gulf Shores Plantation in Gulf Shores.

Family and friends are invited to attend through the medium of the press as no local invitations will be sent.
