Bedwell - Bailey honored with parties Mary Elizabeth Bedwell and Christopher Carroll Bailey IV, both of Mobile, have been honored with several wedding parties. **** On Saturday, July 29, 2006 the couple was honored with a miscellaneous wedding party conducted at Lake Joe-Joe, the home of Helen and Joe Skipper of Jackson. Hostesses for the event were Courtney Skipper, Kelly McCutcheon, Cailey Scruggs, Brooke Slayton and Haley Noble. As guests arrived they were handed beverage huggers with the couple's names and wedding date engraved. Beverages were iced down in wooden canoes. White lights and arrangements of mixed spring flowers were placed throughout the home which is decorated with the University of Alabama theme. Tables decorated with red and white checkered cloths held a variety of finger foods including boiled shrimp, meat and cheese trays, chip and dip, and cheese dips with crackers. Members of the wedding party and friends participated in toasts to the couple along with plenty of kareoke and dancing. Guests brought a variety of wedding gifts for the couple. The hostesses presented the couple with a pewter ice bucket, Victorian wrought iron door matt and a ceramic University of Alabama plate. Approximately 80 guests attended. **** A casual family cookout celebration was conducted in the home of the bride-elect's sister and brother-in-law, Lesley and Michael Lightcap of Spanish Fort on Saturday, Aug. 12. Co-hosting the event were Natalie Bailey and Dave Barrett, Gillian Bailey and Matt Agee, sisters of the groom-elect with their dates, respectively, Elsie Merle and John Jackson, cousin of the bride-elect, Jennifer and Matt McDonald, sister and brother-in-law of the groom-elect and Brooke and Hampton Smith, brother-in-law and sister of the bride-elect. Approximately 40 guests were served hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans and dessert. The couple was presented many useful gifts. **** A miscellaneous wedding shower hosted by Margaret Maddox, a Pi Beta Phi sorority sister of the bride-elect, was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the bride-elect's favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa. Ham and cheeses served on a variety of breads along with coleslaw, broccoli and several salads were served to the bride-elect's sorority sisters. A chocolate fountain was placed on the center of the table for dipping fresh strawberries. The bride-elect was given a crystal cake plate and crystal bowl from the hostess. **** A miscellaneous wedding shower was hosted by Henry Johnston and Hudson Tapia, friends of the groom-elect and members of the wedding party, on Saturday, Aug. 26. The shower was conducted at the groom-elect's friend's home in Theodore. Fresh cut flowers and white lights were placed throughout the Southern home nestled on the Fowl River. Guests were served barbecue pulled pork, pasta salad, coleslaw, homemade banana pudding, brownies and cookies. Parents of the couple enjoyed a ride on a pontoon boat down the Fowl River. The couple was presented a variety of gifts.
