Lady Gators finish as runner-up in tournament The Clarke Prep School Lady Gators brought home second place in the Macon-East Invitational volleyball tournament this past Saturday in Montgomery. In the championship game the Lady Gators lost 26-28 and 17-25 to Lee-Scott Academy. Katelyn Dunagan had three digs, 12 hits and four kills. Tess Ackerman had three digs, four hits, two kills, two dinks and a block. Corrie Allen had five digs, three hits, a kill and a dink. Julie Banks had six hits. Beth Kania had two digs and a hit. In the semi-final match CPS beat host team Macon-East 20-25, 25-20 and 25-22. Dunagan had a dig, an ace, 14 hits and five kills. Janine Kania had two digs, two aces, three hits and a kill. Ackerman nine digs, an ace, nine hits and three kills. Allen had eight digs, two aces, 10 hits, four kills, five dinks. Banks had three digs, four aces, 19 hits and four kills. The Lady Gators beat Lowndes 12-25, 25-15 and 25-15 in the opening game of the tournament. Ackerman had 14 hits, three kills, two dinks and three digs. Dunagan had a dig, two aces, 19 hits, 14 kills, two dinks. J. Kania had two digs, an ace, five hits and a kill. Allen had five digs, an ace, eight hits, four kills and six dinks. Banks had two digs, three aces, four hits and two kills. B. Kania had a dig, four hits and a kill. Lindsay Jordan had four hits and two kills.
Last Thursday the Lady Gators traveled to Linden and beat the Lady Longhorns of Marengo Academy 25-18 and 25-14 and 25-11. J. Kania had four digs, four hits and a kill. Ackerman had four digs, seven hits, three kills and five dinks. Allen had two digs, 11 aces, six hits and five kills. Jordan had two digs, six hits, four kills and dink. Harley Horton had three digs, six aces, seven hits and two kills. This Saturday Clarke Prep will be hosting a tournament starting at 9 a.m., playing Hooper. At 10:30 Sumter will play Escambia. It is a double-elimination tournament.
