Babes set to host tourney

The Clarke County High School Babes volleyball team had a rough time last Saturday as they lost 25-11 and 25-10 to Mobile Christian in a battle of ranked 3A teams.

Carrie Gordon had three kills. Menetre Martin added two assists.

In the first match of the day the Babes were upset by 2A Leroy 18-25 and 21-25.

Jasmine Morris had two aces, a kill and 12 service points. Martin added two assists. Gordon had two kills.

Last Thursday Clarke County High School traveled to Thomasville and won both matches with the Lady Tigers and Demopolis.

In the first match the Babes beat 5A Demopolis 25-13 and 25-18.

In the next match they beat Thomasville 25-21 and 25-12.

The Babes split a pair of matches last Tuesday at home.

In the first match they lost to 5A powerhouse Spanish Fort 8-25 and 11-25.

In the next match they beat Southern Choctaw 25-8 and 25-16.

This Saturday Clarke County will be hosting a pool-play tournament.

On court one THS plays Monroe at 9 a.m.; CCHS plays Flomaton at 10:15; Monroe Co. plays Flomaton at 11:30; CCHS plays Monroe Co. at 12:45; Flomaton plays THS at 2 p.m.; and CCHS plays THS at 3:15.

On court two Leroy plays Mobile Christian at 9 a.m.; T.R. Miller plays Spanish Ft. at 10:15; Leroy plays Spanish Ft. at 11:30; Miller plays Mobile Christian at 12:45; Leroy plays Miller at 2 p.m.; and Mobile Christian plays Spanish Ft. at 3:15.

The winners and the runner-up from each pool will play at 4:30 to set up the championship game.
