E-911 urges homeowners to number their residences

Clarke County residents are being urged once again to put their house numbers on the mailbox, house or somewhere visible in front of their houses in order to help emergency personnel when responding to a call.

The matter was discussed at length during the Clarke County E-911 Board meeting last week.

"The residents need to post those numbers so when there is an emergency law enforcement can find them," Commissioner Rhondel Rhone said.

"And they need to be reflective because you can't see black numbers at night," added EMA Director Roy Waite.

TDS has been contacted about moving the telephone line from the old water tower next to the courthouse to the new tower in order to connect the antennas for the 911 system when the old water tower is torn down.

Jackson Police Department's computer has been repaired and they are answering their 911 calls now.

Clarke County answered 1,431 911 calls, responded to 411 cases, ran 473 drivers license numbers and 249 tag numbers.

Thomasville Police Department answered 158 911 calls.
