Bertha Mae Chapter of Eastern Star host number of activities

Members of the Bertha Mae Chapter #314 Order of the Eastern Star, went to the Jackson Health Care Facility July 22 for their annual visit. A program was presented to the residents. Donated items were given away as bingo prizes. Afterwards, a time of visitation and fellowship was shared. Anola F. Holly is the coordinator for the annual event.

Members of the Bertha Mae Chapter #314 OES had its annual Family and Friends Day Program at the Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in the Walker Springs community. The sisters did a skit entitled "How are you walking? What type shoe are you?" Sisters from other chapters in the county attended. Refreshments were served. Sisters Dorena Philon and Dorothy Robinson were program chairwomen.

Sierra Holly, member of the Bertha Mae Chapter #314 OES was presented the chapter's first book scholarship Aug. 19. She is a sophomore at Alabama State University.

Annie Laura Chapman was presented a book scholarship Sept. 16 for her grandson, Tommy Armstead. He is a freshman in college in Montgomery.

The chapter will be having its annual picnic at the AFC Park in Leroy Saturday, Sept. 23. All members of the chapter are invited to attend.

The motto of Bertha Mae Chapter #314 OES is "Helping Others."
