CCHS, CPS both place in V'ball tourneys

The Clarke Prep School Lady Gators beat Jackson Academy 25-23, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-19 Monday in Grove Hill.

Katelyn Dunagan had six digs, two aces, 16 hits and two kills. Tess Ackerman had eight digs, seven hits, three kills, six dinks and a block. Corrie Allen had 10 digs, three aces, seven hits, eight dinks and two kills. Julie Banks had three digs, 10 hits and three kills. Harley Horton had four digs, three aces, 10 hits and four kills.

On Saturday the Lady Gators lost 9-25 and 16-25 to Sumter Academy in the championship game of the CPS Classic Tournament in Grove Hill.

Dunagan had five digs and five hits. Ackerman had three digs, an ace, a dink and two blocks. Beth Kania had a dig, a hit and a kill. Lindsay Jordan had a dig, two aces and a hit. Horton had a dig, an ace, five hits and a kill. Rachel Mayton had four digs, an ace and two hits.

Clarke Prep forced an extra match with Sumter by beating them 25-19 and 25-23.

Dunagan had four digs, two aces, 16 hits, six kills, three dinks and two blocks. Ackerman had seven digs, two hits, a kill, six dinks and two blocks. B. Kania had five digs, an ace and three hits. Horton had four aces, 12 hits and two kills.

CPS eliminated Hooper from the tournament 27-25 and 25-23.

Dunagan had two aces, 12 hits and four kills. Ackerman had three digs. B. Kania had a dig, a hit and a kill. Horton had four digs, four aces, 11 hits and five kills. Mayton had two hits and a kill.

Sumter sent CPS to the loser's bracket earlier in the day 16-25, 25-19 and 19-25.

Dunagan had three digs, 11 hits and three kills. Ackerman had four digs, three aces, three hits and two kills. Bankes had two digs, an ace and two hits. B. Kania had three digs and two hits. Horton had a digm four aces, 11 hits and six aces. Mayton had two aces, four hits and two kills.

In the opening round the Lady Gators beat Escambia Academy 25-16 and 25-13.

Dunagan had 10 hits and six kills. Ackerman had three digs and four dinks. B. Kania had four digs, three aces and three hits. Jordan had two aces, three hits and a kill. Horton had four aces, five hits and a kill. Mayton had seven hits and five kills.

Just before the tourney CPS lost 25-23, 17-25 and 23-25 to Hooper.

Dunagan had 16 hits and seven kills. Janine Kania had two digs, four hits and a kill. Ackerman had six digs, two aces and six assists. Horton had 17 hits and six kills.

Ackerman and Horton were named to the all-tournament team.
