The Jackson Academy Eagles took a tough loss to Escambia Academy last Friday 26-7 to send them to 0-4 on the season.

Cody Norton passed for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Escambia Academy to their victory.

Norton hit Kevin Maher on a 25-yard touchdown pass and also scored on a 1-yard run.

Joe Drew rushed 20 times for 106 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run, for Escambia. Jon Bean had 10 carries for 69 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown run for Escambia's other points.

In the third quarter of play, Max Harrell recovered a fumble in the endzone for an Eagle touchdown. Evin Bowling added the extra point to make it 20-7 at the time.

Escambia added one more score late to send the final to 26-7 in favor of the team from Canoe.

"It was a game we needed to win," said assistant coach Josh Wright. "It was a very embarrasing loss.

"Hopefully we can have a turn around. This game against Sparta is going to be a must-win situation."
