C-M Gas working on gas tie-in with Wilcox counterpart Surveyors are at work getting things prepared for the interconnect between Wilcox County and Clarke Mobile Counties Gas District. Tommy Horseley, a member of the three-man management team for CMC Gas reported on the interconnect's progress during the CMC Gas Board meeting last week. "They're seeing the landowner for the regulation station and we may have it done before cold weather hits," he said. The original plans had been for the two lines to connect at Weyerhaeuser, but, according to Al Bean, another member of the management team, CMC Gas felt it would be better to own the easements to the lines. This entailed running an extra two miles of lines in order to connect with Wilcox County.
Employee pay scale Bean told board members job descriptions were being written for CMC Gas employees, which was said at an earlier meeting to be needed in order to create a pay scale. A compensation survey from Auburn never came in and another survey they received was not complete. Bean said they had someone working on another survey and hoped to have the pay scale, which would include salaries and benefits ready by the next board meeting.
Money matters C. J. Arnold, the other member of the management team, reported the billing system had been implemented as well as the new cash receiving system. He told board members they were still working on some issues, but once a billing cycle was complete they should be able to get up-to-date financial reports daily. He also reported that the Orange Beach system and Clarke Mobile Gas system would have different financial statements. The accounting system has been updated and Arnold told board members they were looking to implement controls on stores in order to keep up with inventory better.
Operations Bean reported that work was progressing at the Delvan project in Mount Vernon at the Mobile River. Bone Construction was installing new pipe and they were trying to complete the project before bad weather sets in. The Lewis Creek relocation is complete and the Stave Creek project should be tied in this week.
Hedge Committee Bean reported that the Hedge committee met Monday. They had decided that 75 percent of the gas purchases would be hedged and they would float 25 percent of the purchases. He said by the end of the month the committee expected to have most of the 75 percent hedge locked down for the winter. A risk management policy resolution was approved by board members. Bean explained that the resolution was a pledge by the committee that it would not buy low and sell high, but "close the gaps."
Other business Floor plans for the new office building in Jackson had been delivered by Sewell and McKee, the architects for the project. A signature card resolution for five banks was approved. Horseley announced state employee insurance premiums had increased from $772 to $823, effective Oct. 1. An open house will be held in Jackson Oct. 23. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m.
