School gets off to great start!
By Larry Bagley
WHMS Principal

We are off and running again heading toward another successful school year. I want to congratulate all our students and faculty for making AYP under the No Child Left Behind formula of achievement. How-ever, we still must continue to work extremely hard to meet the high expectations of NCLB.

On Monday night, Aug. 14, the sixth grade teachers held a parents' night within their grade level. This event not only allowed the parents and teachers to meet, but also gave parents information about their child's academic expectations for the school year. Parental involvement in the middle school grades is just as important as it was in elementary school. Studies show that children whose parents stay involved during their middle school years do better in school.

We would also like to welcome some new faculty members to Wilson Hall. They are Adam Andrews - seventh grade history, Moneek Bryant - special education, Cedricia Wilson - seventh grade English, and Athena Hubbert - girls' physical education. These four highly qualified teachers join our other 38 faculty and staff at WHMS.
