'Golden Apple' for PTA

The WHMS PTA is looking forward to another successful school year. First, we would like to thank all who have helped in the past and will help in the future of our school.

The PTA had a very successful 2005-2006. We received the "Golden Apple Award." This was possible by having all faculty join PTA. Our Mardi Gras festival was great fun. The gym was decorated with the Mardi Gras colors and theme. It was a day of games, food, and lots of fun. This fundraiser along with others in the past enabled the WHMS PTA to help purchase new bleachers for the gym.

Each year at the beginning of school PTA has a membership drive. This year our theme is "Kick Off" PTA. For the school to have 100 percent membership, each student will need to have someone to sign up as a member. The sign up fee is only $4 each. This year for an incentive the students, who signs someone will receive a free dress out of uniform day (appropriate clothing). The date of the free dress out day will be announced at a later date.

If the school reaches its goal of 100 percent membership, WHMS will receive an award. This award means that each student at the school is represented by an adult with membership in the PTA. This money helps support our local and state PTA programs, which in turn benefit each and every student at WHMS.

PTA is currently working on another fundraiser. The theme for this year's fundraiser is "Fall Sports Day." The date is set tentatively for Nov. 17 and the final date will depend on the weather. We are planning several fun sport activities for the students to choose from. There will be an activity that each student will be able to participate in. The students will be required to pay a small fee to be able to participate in the activities. Also, there will be a variety of foods for the students to purchase.
