PAWS students learn, have fun too!

PAWS After School Program is taking registration for students interested in after school activities. PAWS offers homework help, computers, recreation, and 4-H.

PAWS federal reporting was recently completed and students enrolled in PAWS After School showed improvement in grades and standardized test scores.

PAWS students are involved in numerous enrichment activities throughout the year. Last year students spent time in musical theatre classes, art sculpting classes, and especially enjoyed the digital photography unit.

The students won several awards in the local photography contest and also won at the 4-H Regional Competition in Butler. Their photos are now on display at the Clarke County Museum.

This year PAWS After School is seeking certification for Wilson Hall Middle School as an Alabama Outdoor Classroom through the Alabama Wildlife Federation.

Site supervisor, Kathy Powell, and Wilson Hall Middle School science teachers, Jennifer Abston, Ann Smith, and Rebecca Vick, will attend training on Sept. 28.

The Outdoor Classroom will bring more environmental activities to the PAWS program and provide experiences to WHMS science classes as well.
