The Clarke County High School Bulldogs clamped down on the Tigers of Choctaw County 36-0 last Friday night as the defense limited their region foe to just 50 yards on the ground and 39 yards in the air.

Choctaw defense actually forced a turnover on the first CCHS possession but the Bulldog defense held the Tigers' offense on downs.

The Bulldogs then marched down the field to paydirt and capped the drive with a 2-yard blast from Kenneth Kimbrough. Jamarcus Robinson ran in the 2-point conversion and CCHS led 8-0.

On the ensuing Choctaw possession Ronnie Osborne came through the middle and blocked the Choctaw punt offering. Osborne then recovered the ball at the Tiger 31-yard line.

From there it didn't take long to score as Kimbrough pounded in from 4-yards out. The attempt came up short but Clarke County had a 14-0 lead.

After another Choctaw punt Clarke County needed just one play to hit paydirt as Kimbrough again scored. This one covered 56-yards of the gridiron.

Robinson tacked on the 2-point conversion run and the lead was 22-0 with 7:21 left in the first half.

With less than a minute to play before halftime CCHS increased their lead when Kimbrough scored on a 2-yard run. The try for two was no good, but Clarke County took a 28-0 lead into the break.

Neither team could score in the third quarter, but with 10 minutes left in the game Kimbrough raced 52-yards for the game's final touchdown. Britt Chapman ran in the 2-point conversion and the Bulldogs came away with the region win 36-0.

Kimbrough led all rushers with 163 yards on 14 carries and five TDs. Robinson added 108 yards on 14 carries.

Tyler Walker was 3-of-4 passing for 78 yards. Duane Owens had two catches for 64 yards.

This Friday the Bulldogs (3-1, 3-0) take a break from region play as they travel to Jackson to take on the Aggies in a rivalry dating back to 1917.

Jackson (2-2, 2-1) comes in to the game having beaten Southside- Selma last Friday night.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Simpkins Stadium-Legion Field.
