The Thomasville Tigers earned a hard fought region win last Friday night as they beat W.S. Neal 28-14 in East Brewton.

In the first quarter Tiger QB Jake Overstreet called his own number as he scored on a 15-yard run. Cameron Dunagan kicked the PAT and Thomasville led 7-0.

The score capped a 51-yard drive that was highlighted by a 25-yard run from Roya Campbell.

The Tigers were unable to get into the endzone again until the end of the first half.

Neal scored on a short TD run, but missed the PAT as they cut the lead to 7-6.

On the ensuing kickoff Alex Buford returned the Blue Eagle offering 55-yards to give the Tigers great field position.

Then with no time left on the clock Overtsreet dialed up Daril Jackson with an 11-yard touchdown pass.

Dunagan's kick added to the Thomasville lead 14-6.

In the third quarter the Tiger offense drove down as close as the Neal 4- and 11-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.

The Blue Eagles were able to hit paydirt as they tied the game at 14-14 with a touchdown and converted 2-point try.

In the fourth frame Thomasville just missed a 25-yard field goal, but Neal's offense fumbled the ball right back.

A few plays later Overstreet connected with Tysean Thompson for a 17-yard touchdown pass.

Dunagan converted his third kick of the game and the Tigers retook the lead 21-14.

Daril Jackson set up the last score as he picked off a Neal pass in Tiger territory.

Minutes later Overstreet tossed Jackson a 50-yard touchdown pass. The senior made a circus catch to come down with the ball.

Dunagan was perfect on the kick and Thomasville led 28-14.

One more interception late iced the game for the Tigers as they earned the 28-14 region win.

"They were one of the most talented teams that I have seen in my 12 years here in Thomasville," Coach Jack Hankins said. "They were big and strong but I am proud of my guys for not ever stopping."

Delvonte Harris led the Tiger ground game with 90 yards on seven carries. Campbell had 86 yards on 16 carries. Overstreet had 42 yards on nine carries and a score.

In the air Overstreet was 8-of-18 passing for 140 yards, one interception and three TD passes.

Jackson caught two for 61 yards and a score. Thompson had three catches for 56 yards and a TD.

Katrell Waters led the defense with 14 tackles. Brother Jarell Waters had 10 stops. Jackson had three tackles, caused a fumble and had two interceptions. Justin Smith had six tackles and a fumble recovery.

This Friday the top-ranked Tigers (4-0,3-0) step out of region play as they host Choctaw County (1-3, 1-2).

"This is a chance for our team to get better," Hankins said. "That is all you can ask for each week."

Game time at Anderson Field is 7 p.m.
