Chance & Scyrene Costa Rica teacher enjoys Chance visit for Grandma Taite's 'soul' food
Gail Marshall

Mrs. Maxie Taite of Chance recently enjoyed a visit from her grandson, Tyrone Jackson, who lives and teaches in Samara Beach Guanacaste, Costa Rica. He is the son of Mrs. Taite's deceased daughter, Diane.

Tyrone had not been to Chance in many years and thoroughly enjoyed the time that he spent with his grandmother. Most of all he enjoyed all of the "soul" food that she prepared for him. She told him that he had better enjoy all of it now because she knew that he would miss it when he returned to his home.

Tyrone is an instructor at the Interculture Spanish/English School on Samara Beach. He joined the staff there in 2002 as a professor and was later promoted to Administrative Coordinator in 2004. He works managing the beach campus' Spanish program and cultural activities, as well as overseeing the English classes for local students. His undergraduate studies were in Political Science, with an emphasis on Business Communications at the University of Central Iowa. Upon arrival in Costa Rica, he completed certification for teaching English as a second language. He is fluent in English, Spanish and is studying German. He looks forward to visiting his grandmother again in the near future.
