Lots going on at CCHS this term
By Jake Paul

With the first nine weeks behind us, Clarke County High School has had a great start. With October being Statewide Parent Visitation Month, parents are invited to take part in "Children are the Future - Share the Vision," the theme of this year's visitation day. By attending this special event designed especially for parents, the opportunity will be available to meet with teachers and to see what the students are learning.

When parents are involved in education, the students often achieve more, so the CCHS faculty and staff have planned this great event as a way of informing adults of the importance of their involvement in their school-aged children's education.

Art displays, science projects and special performances by students are just a few of the treats that will be at CCHS. Report card pickup is also on Parenting Day, Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Spaghetti dinner plates are currently being sold for five dollars by the CCHS New School Projects Committee. The plates will be ready Tuesday, Oct. 10 between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Grove Hill United Methodist Church. See Ann Baugh for tickets.

Parenting Day is not the only thing happening this month. Basketball tryouts, drama club tryouts, Beta Club induction, homecoming week, nine week exams and report cards are all happening in October.

Basketball tryouts were this past week and Drama Club will be holding tryouts soon.

Beta Club induction is set for Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in Sage Auditorium. All new and old Beta members are expected to attend.

Homecoming week is Oct. 16-20 and the Dawgs will be battling the Central Hayneville Lions. Students are looking forward to the many events scheduled for that week.

Midterm exams were administered Oct. 3 and 4. The final day of the nine weeks is Friday, Oct. 6 and report cards will be available Parenting Day, Oct. 10.

With one successful nine weeks gone and a busy month ahead, students and teachers at CCHS are more than prepared to make the next nine weeks better than the first.
