Fire Prevention Parade slated in Jackson Oct. 8
'Watch What You Heat!' theme for the week

Fire Prevention Week begins in Clarke County and Nationally on Sunday, Oct. 8 with the theme "Watch What You Heat!" This year's emphasis on preventing cooking fires reminds everyone that kitchen fires are one of the most preventable fires we have.

Jackson celebrates Fire Prevention Week with many activities. On Sunday, Oct. 8 several churches are inspected and firefighters attend church together. Monday, Oct. 9 and Tuesday, Oct. 10 the members of the Jackson Volunteers begin plans for inspection of businesses, schools and nursing homes. Out of town and local fire inspectors gather in Jackson to assist in the city-wide inspections. On Wednesday, Oct. 11 the annual Fire Prevention Parade is held. Parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m. and will follow the usual route through town.

In Jackson letters have been sent to businesses and residences with the annual request for funds for the fire department. Contribution may be mailed to the Jackson Fire Department, P.O. Box 856 Jackson, AL 36545.
