Fulton sewer project gets go-ahead after slight trim The final steps for Fulton's new sewerage system were taken Monday as the council passed a resolution to accept the final bids. The first time the bids were sought they came in overpriced. Mayor Mike Norris, after getting opinions from the state and the town attorney, approached the bidder about renegotiating certain parts of the original project. The paving was one of the items that was changed, along with some of the pipe and electrical costs. "The entire project has a total cost of $1,069,000," Norris told council members. "We have a grant of $750,000, plus $300,000 other monies, leaving the town to come up with $70,000. I think we need to go ahead and bite the bullet and pass this resolution and get started." All of the council members were in agreement that the project that has been in the works for three years needed to get started. "Two weeks after the resolution is passed and the bids are accepted...From that point, in 30 days work should begin," Norris said. The council unanimously passed the resolution. In other business the council: + Accepted a $150 check from the Men Making a Difference group for the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department. + Approved the monthly expenses. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 14. Council member Danny Bedwell was not present for Monday's meeting.
