Eagles gain first win of the season

The Jackson Academy Eagles got a huge win in Marion on Friday night over the newly aligned Marion Schools 33-20.

Jamie Rone led all rushers with 141 yards on 20 attempts with three touchdowns. He had touchdown runs from five yards out as well as four. Chance Lyon had 85 yards rushing on 7 attempts with one touchdown, which was from four yards out. David Hughston had 11 carries for 75 yards while Wesley Harris and Brandon Gilpen combined to add 82 yards on eight attemtps.

Wesley Harris was 1-of-5 passing for 15 yards while Logan Barnes was 2-of-3 for 32 yards.

Drew Jones had two receptions for the Eagles for 28 yards while Wesley Harris had one carry for 23 yards.

Evin Bowling was 3-of-4 on extra point attempts.

Chad Carter had three kickoff returns for 66 yards.

The Eagles will travel north to Eutaw to face Warrior Academy Friday as they take a break from region play. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
