Father shoots son for not helping at home A father was charged with attempted murder after shooting his son for not helping around the house. Levan Roper Jr. went to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Friday morning after he was shot in the chest and told Clarke County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Carlisle that his father, Levan Roper, had shot him with a hand gun. Apparently the two had argued when the senior Roper asked his son to do some work around the house and to contribute some money for the power bill. The younger Roper told his father he didn't have any money and left their home in the Toddtown community. His father drove up to the intersection of County Roads 3 and 16, where his son had gone, and shot him. Levan Roper has already served time for murder and is therefore forbidden to carry a firearm, so officials with the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was contacted on the case. Roper is charged with attempted murder and certain persons forbidden to carry a firearm. His bond was set at $60,000.
