The Clarke County High School Bulldogs had no trouble as they dispatched the Wildcats of Sumter County 42-0 last Friday night at H.G. Prim Stadium.

The win sets up a showdown with the Bulldogs of Washington County High School that will determine the region championship this Friday.

Both schools have unblemished region records. CCHS has lost twice, 21-6 to top-ranked 4A T.R. Miller and 23-20 to 4A Jackson in a county rivalry.

Washington County has easily dispatched their non-region foes 1A McIntosh and Fruitdale.

But in the game against Sumter the Bulldogs got all the points they needed in the first few seconds as Kenneth Kimbrough took the opening kick-off and raced 90-yards for the touchdown.

Tyler Walker tossed the 2-point pass to Jamarcus Robinson and the Bulldogs led 8-0 with 11:46 left in the first quarter.

The Bulldog defense forced a punt and on the next possession the Bulldogs went to the air as Walker connected with Terrance Frazier for a 38-yard scoring strike.

Kimbrough pounded in the 2-point conversion and with 6:59 remaining in the period the CCHS lead was increased to 16-0.

The next Clarke County touchdown was set up after Chris Anderson recovered a Wildcat fumble at the Sumter 20-yard line.

On the very first play Jamarcus Robinson shredded the defense for a 20-yard touchdown run.

The attempt failed but the Bulldogs held a 22-0 lead with 3:00 left in the first stanza.

Later in the second quarter CCHS added to the lead as Kimbrough scored on a 55-yard run. It was the only play in the scoring drive.

The try for two came up short but the Bulldogs led 28-0 with 4:58 left in the half.

Duane Owens recovered a loss ball Sumter 35-yard line to set up the next touchdown.

Kimbrough capped the short drive with a 19-yard run.

The kick failed but CCHS took a 34-0 lead into the break.

In the second half Clarke County scored on their first possession as Walker connected with Owens for a 22-yard TD pass.

Dwight Chapman ran in the 2-point conversion to make the score 42-0 with 2:47 left in the period.

Neither team really threatened again in the contest and Clarke County came away with a 42-0 region win.

Kimbrough led all rushers with 159 yards on 12 carries and three scores. Robinson added 64 yards on eight carries and a score.

Walker was 5-of-12 passing for 74 yards and a pair of TDs.

The defense limited Sumter County's offense to just 62 yards of total offense.

With that game past them the Bulldogs are gearing up for their trip to Chatom this week.

The Washington County team (6-0, 4-0) beat Calhoun 61-24 last Friday night.

Game time at Jordan-Wilcox Stadium is 7 p.m.
