Eagles power past Warrior
JA 71, Warrior 20

The Jackson Academy Eagles dominated Warrior Academy 71-20, Friday night in Eutaw, for the Eagles' second straight win.

The leading rusher was Jamie Rone who had 90 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns. Also running the ball, Brandon Gilpin had 55 yards on four carries and a touchdown. Crayton Motes had 44 yards and five runs and a touchdown. On a trick play, lineman Max Harrell ran down the field for a 56-yard run. For the Eagles, quarterback Wesley Harris went 1-for-4 with four yards and a touchdown; the one pass was completed to Logan Barnes for the first touchdown pass of the 2006 season.

On kick returns, Wesley Harris had three for 162 yards. Chad Carter returned one for 37 yards and Josh Williams returned one for 34 yards. Wesley Harris also returned a punt for 57-yards and a touchdown.

Evin Bowling, Jackson Academy place kicker, went 9-for-10 kicking PATs and scored a touchdown for a total of 15 points in the game, believed to be an AISA record for a female player.

Defensively, Max Harrell led all tacklers with six and also recovered a fumble, Chance Lyon had four tackles and five assists, A.J. Motes recovered a fumble, Wesley Harris and Josh Williams both intercepted passes.

"I was really proud of how the team played with everyone contributing," said JA Head Coach Lynn Wright.

The Eagles (2-5, 1-4) will host Southern Academy on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
