Clarke Prep

Halloween Carnival

Clarke Prep School will hold its annual Halloween Carnival Thursday, (tonight), Oct. 19 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Field. There will be a cake walk, treasure dig, go fish, country store, inflatables and more. Concessions will be available and there will be a costume contest for ages infant to sixth grade. Come out and enjoy an old fashioned Halloween carnival.

Grove Hill Chamber quarterly meeting set

The Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its quarterly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 12 noon in the cafeteria at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Lunch will be prepared by the Nutrition Staff of the hospital. Everyone is invited.

Clarke County 4-H'ers selling Boston Butts

Clarke County 4-H'ers and volunteers will be taking orders for fully cooked Boston Butts through Friday, Oct. 27 . The Boston Butts can be picked up Friday, Nov. 3 at the Alfa Building in Grove Hill in the rear of the building from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. Price for the Boston Butts is $25 and checks can be made payable to the Clarke County 4-H Support Fund. Brunson family reunion

The descendants of Tom and Hessie Brunson will have a family reunion Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Chilton community on Highway 154. Bring a covered dish and lawn chairs.

McKinley family reunion

Descendants of James Monroe McKinley will be meeting at the Liberty Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Saturday, Oct. 28 . Come early, bring a covered dish and expect to enjoy yourself.

Council's Ghost Walk set

The Arts Council of Thomasville will present the third annual Kathryn Tucker Windham "Ghost Walk" Saturday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m at Clay Park in downtown Thomasville. Enjoy a hayride to historic homes while listening to music, singing and tales of Thomasville's past. Storytellers in period costume will tell tales from the "13 Alabama Ghosts" series. Thomasville native Kathryn Tucker Windham will also be on hand to tell a few tales of her own. There will also be Ghost Walk t-shirts and books by Mrs. Windham available for purchase, a children's costume contest beginning at 6 p.m. and the Dixie River Band will entertain at Clay Park. A children's entertainment area, sponsored by the Thomasville High School Drama Club will feature space jumps, slides and more. Armbands for this special area will be $5. Bring the entire family and enjoy a night celebrating the Southern tradition of storytelling. Price per family: $15. Individual ticket price, $5. Historical Society

meets in Thomasville

The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomasville. Those attending will have the opportunity to tour the ALA-Tom RC & D office. It is located in the restored 1901 building constructed for the Farmers Bank and Trust. Tentative plans are to also tour the restored Champion house. Both of these buildings are located in the renovated downtown area of Thomasville. Finalized locations will be annouced in next week's paper. The public is invited to attend.

Fulton Christmas parade

The Dickinson and Fulton Unity II Community Organization will sponsor a Christmas parade Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. Line up begins at 1 p.m. at Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton. Jackson High School Class of 1976 will hold its 30th years class reunion Saturday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Jackson Recreation Center (formerly the Jackson Municipal Pool), J. W.
