Phillips graduates basic training for Marine Corps

Alan Phillips
United States Marine Corps Private Thomas Alan Phillips graduated from basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, on Sept. 22.

During the 12 weeks of training, Phillips studied the core values of honor, courage, and commitment, organization, and military history; received aggressive physical training, hand-to-hand combat training, field training exercises, drill exercises, and received the title of expert marksman during rifle marksmanship exercises.

Phillips has returned for additional Marine combat training at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He is in the Aviation Wing of Crash, Fire, and Rescue.

Phillips is the son of Tommy and Lisa Phillips and brother to Justin Phillips of Grove Hill.

Phillips is a 2006 graduate of Clarke County High School.
