Daycare Preschool News Clarke Prep Daycare and Preschool is proud to welcome back all of the wonderful families that we had last year and welcome the new families for this year. We have a total of 91 children and 16 staff. **** This month we have focused on safety within our center, and have been teaching our children to be safe as well. In doing so, we have practiced our fire drills and evacuation procedures. The staff members are dedicated in providing the highest quality care as well as being safe in the event of an emergency. **** The Grove Hill Fire Department brought the fire truck out for the children to see. The firemen talked to the children about fire safety and showed them the firemen's clothing and their masks. Mr. Buddy rang the fire bell and sprayed water for all the children to see. We would like to thank him and all the firemen that helped make our children's day so special. **** The nursery has a new toy called the "Bye Bye Buggy." Thanks to a parent, we were able to purchase this stroller that hold six babies. The babies are enjoying strolling around the school in the wonderful fall weather. **** The one year old class has been growing by leaps and bounds. This class has been developing their cognitive skills by playing Peekaboo, Shake, Rattle and Roll, and Kick the Bucket. They are also busy with creative movements and playing outside. Learning to eat by themselves has helped their fine motor skills but most of all this class is just having fun. **** The two-year-old class has been busy learning their shapes and colors. Friendship skills and social skills are being developed while making crafts for the fall season. The toddler's imaginative center has had them dressing up like firemen and pretending to go on a bear hunt. This class is getting ready for their Halloween party. **** The young three year old class has been learning about community helpers. The Grove Hill Firemen stopped by and let the children try on fire hats while they were having their pictures made in the fire truck. **** The older three year old class had a visit from Tommy Davis (Jay's dad) who is a fireman from Mobile. He came and spoke to the children about firemen and their jobs. The most important thing he told them was not to play with matches. This was very important. This class has also been busy learning their ABC's. Each week they have a parade with the letter they have learned. During Community Service Week each child made a fall placemat for the nursing home. During their outside playtime, they have enjoyed the weather by blowing bubbles, and racing around the track on the tricycles. This week they are building a Dinosaur exhibit in their room as well as getting ready for Halloween. **** K-4 classes have been very busy with learning the alphabet, numbers, addresses and phone numbers. These two classes are very smart. They have been making scarecrows and pumpkins and decorating the halls with their art. Coming up is Halloween and they are getting ready to go singing for treats. **** Clarke Prep Daycare and Preschool is proud to have a 4-H program in after school care. They have been very busy making no sew pillows and learning about insects. This month they will by making a variety of Halloween crafts and will be learning about marine life. Our 4-H leader has just returned from Eaton Georgia and has plenty of new activities and ideas for our afterschoolers.
