Foul play suspected
Area lawmen began an intense search for James E. Foreman, 46, of Whatley, last week. Foreman, who was seen on a daily basis in Whatley and the surrounding communities, was last seen Sept. 9. He was self-employed as a mechanic and lived with an elderly man, who he helped care for. "Shortly after he disappeared the man he was living with was put in the nursing home because there wasn't anybody else who could take care of him. At first everyone just thought he left, but this is a man who was seen around here every day. He was either here or in Pine Hill and no one has seen him in over a month," Clarke County Sheriff's Department Chief Investigator Vergil Chapman said. Chapman said the report of an incident involving Foreman leads him to suspect foul play, but he did not elaborate. In addition to sheriff's deputies, Jackson Rescue Squad, divers from Monroe County and tracking dogs from north Alabama were brought in to search the Whatley area and the creek Saturday morning. Foreman is a black male, weighing 160 pounds and is five feet nine inches tall. He has brown eyes and black hair. His nickname is "32." "If anyone has any information about Foreman or his whereabouts, they need to call the sheriff's department," Chapman added.
